Themes: self-abandonment, self-betrayal, healing anxiety, speaking your truth, healing generational trauma, honouring your inner resources, learning how to fall in love with yourself. The stories inside are the things that I kept hidden out of fear of abandonment. It’s about how I held the image of perfection so tightly that there was no room for my truth… and it turns out my own truth was the thing that set me free. This book contains stories about anxiety, unworthiness, and other fears that I thought made me flawed and unlovable.
I wrote this book because I navigated my healing journey and dark night of the soul alone and scared. I realized people need to see themselves in this - so they know their breakdown isn’t the end; it’s the beginning. That going into your darkness doesn’t mean you’ll get lost in it or never come out, it means you’ll finally find the gems that are hidden within it. In order to find the peace you seek, you have to go into the pain you avoid. Facing yourself will be the biggest challenge and the most rewarding thing you will ever do. I’ve known since I was a kid that I was meant to write books… why not start with my own story? I wrote it so other women could see that they’re not alone and there’s nothing wrong with them. I wrote it to normalize human suffering.
Readers see themselves in these pages. The stories I tell, the childhood experiences I had, my struggles with intimacy - all women can relate to. The most common feedback I get is, “I felt exactly the same as you!”. You’ll laugh and cry. It will make you feel motivated to live a life of love rather than fear. It will show you how to be brave and get out of your comfort zone so you can truly live the life you want. You’ll finish the book ready to do the thing you’ve put off of years. You’ll finish the book believing in magic.
Go into the darkness of your own being. There’s life there.
